“WHAT DOES VISIBILITY MEAN TO YOU?”

Kaela Helton (#5)

“As a player, to me visibility means having a platform to show the world what hard work can accomplish. It is an opportunity to inspire other athletes to strive for their best and challenge others to do the same.

I want to continue to raise the bar of what it means to be an ultimate athlete. It is also my hope that people see the absolute joy that ultimate brings to me and the love and respect I have for my incredible teammates.”

Neha Vaingankar (#12)

“Visibility is important to me because I really think seeing is believing. When I see people on TV who look like me, playing sports that I want to play, it brings me so much joy and excitement motivates me to want to get better.

Like seeing an awesome layout or a beautiful deep cut from some of my favorite players is one of the most exciting things to see.

The WUL has been doing an amazing job of streaming our games and allowing the ultimate community to enjoy women’s ultimate. For me, my parents come from outside the US, and I have a lot of family abroad that I usually only see once a year. Last year, for our first Super Bloom game in Seattle, my family woke up at 6am there time to catch the live stream all the way in India!

For them to be able to wake up and watch the game half way across the world brings us so much closer and allows them to get a glimpse of what I spend all of my free time doing. They ask me questions and I can send them Super Bloom highlights to get them excited about the sport.

The livestreams foster so much inclusion to ultimate and can help bring the sport to all types of people. Please consider donating to the WUL GoFundMe to ensure we can keep spreading the greatness that is ultimate!”
