We've put together the most asked questions here... but please feel free to contact us for more information!
WHAT IS THE MISSION OF THE TEAM?
Our mission is to increase accessibility to and visibility of diverse players in the sport of Ultimate through high-level competition, playing opportunities, and community partnerships. Our team strives to foster the equitable growth of the ultimate community in Southern California.
Super Bloom provides a platform for womxn* to compete locally at a high level, in front of crowds, and for pay. San Diego Super Bloom is dedicated to supporting our mission by giving back to the community through hosting equity discussions, skills clinics, hat and team tournaments, youth leagues, college and youth coaching, and more.
*Note: We use the term womxn to be inclusive of all women and non-binary people. We welcome non-binary people as well as transgender and cisgender women to be players and volunteers on our team.
WHO RUNS SUPER BLOOM?
Super Bloom was started by a dedicated committee of San Diegans that is in the process of becoming more formally organized into specific roles. In addition to our committee, we have an elected board of directors that makes organization-level decisions. Check out our Who We Are page to meet those involved and please also see our updates page to learn more about our decision making processes!
WHEN AND WHERE DOES SUPER BLOOM PLAY?
Super Bloom will play three home games in San Diego and three away games this season. Check back soon for official 2020 Western Ultimate League schedule! All games will be live streamed.
HOW WILL WOMXN'S PRO IMPACT THE CLUB SEASON?
The Western Ultimate League Season runs from March to the end of May, which is before most club competition begins. We are working with local club teams to schedule tryouts in a way that respects both the womxn of Super Bloom and the needs of local teams.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Super Bloom will pay its players a season salary and cover all player expenses including travel, field space, and jerseys.
HOW CAN YOU AFFORD TO PAY THE PLAYERS A SALARY?
Super Bloom is a community-funded team. We fundraise through local hat tournaments, partnerships with local businesses, and through individual contributions. We welcome new ideas to involve the community and fundraise in a way that supports our mission.
You can donate here! Interested in sponsorship? We are a 501c3 certified non-profit, so your donation will be tax-deductible!
